What’s the difference between microSD™ and Memory Stick Micro™ (M2) memory cards? They look the same.

The Shape and the Interface! The M2 or Memory Stick Micro™ is slightly bigger and uses a different interface standard than that of microSD™. Phones typically support either one interface standard or the other.
MicroSD™ is becoming the industry standard, except for Sony Ericsson. The M2 provides removable high-capacity storage for Sony Ericsson’s latest generation of mobile phones.

What’s the difference between SD and SDHC?

The ‘HC’ stands for High Capacity. When the SD Card Association (SDA) rewrote the spec to allow for 4GB-32GB cards, a change was needed in the actual card spec to allow for those larger capacities, hence the HC. Devices capable of reading SDHC cards can also read SD cards but a SDHC card can ONLY be used in a SDHC device. More information can be found on the Associations’ site www.sdcard.org.

Do SanDisk memory cards come with a manufacturer’s warranty?

Yes, almost all our mobile cards come with a 5-year limited warranty. Ultra cards carry a 10-year limited warranty!

Some brands claim they carry Class 6. What is the difference among the brands?

Class levels were developed by the SD Card Association to show minimum guaranteed performance levels. This in no way indicates the performance you actually experience. SanDisk products are backed by decades of dedicated design, test and application engineering. Other competitors may not have the same compatibility testing, engineering verification and design that SanDisk provides.

Why is the actual capacity of the card different from what is stated on the packaging? For instance, the packaging states 4GB, but the actual capacity is 3.7GB.

When a memory card is installed, the device formats the card and creates a folder structure on it. This process creates a small difference in the amount of memory.
